I have the same issue with the clicking when turning left at low speeds. It either a sound at each wheel revolution or related too. One of the most common and noticeable symptoms of a bad or failing cv axle shaft assembly is an audible clicking noise when turning or accelerating.

When cv joints were first introduced the whole axle had to be removed so that the affected joint could be torn apart to install the new boot. Makes no noise at all when going straight. I just picked up 2004 ll bean with 96k on the clock.

The cv axle transmits torque from the transaxle or differential to the wheels, enabling the vehicle to be driven forward. Because the vibrations are so strong, they are one of the most obvious bad cv axle symptoms. This clearance problem is usually noticeable in turns on acceleration, such as pulling out of a driveway or turning after a stop sign or traffic light.

I can’t go back there right away, because it is about 2.5 hours away. Sorry to revive an old thread, but thanks for the heads up on this one. Cv joint is my bet.

I took the cvs apart, cleaned all the grease out, installed new grease & boots. These vibrations tend to occur when the vehicle is turning, accelerating, or decelerating. When a car makes a clicking noise from the front of the vehicle while turning and accelerating, the cause is damage to the cv joint.

The inner joint is located right where the transmission hooks to the axle. You can drive on a damaged cv joint for a little while, but there’s no telling how long “safe” operation will last. The cv joint allows flexibility in each end of the axle shaft as the vehicle is going down the road.

Sometimes faint, sometimes very noticeable, but constant while turning or. The cv joint may just be a small part of the vehicle, but it is very crucial for total wheel movement. I might have to call and make an appointment to get it checked out.

The rub with a cv joint is that it has to transfer power at multiple angles. As you might have guessed, cv joints are under a lot of stress while accelerating and turning, and the symptoms of a damaged axle (cv joint) will show up under these stressful conditions. When cv axles become excessively worn, the constant velocity joints will become loose and click when turning or accelerating.

When hearing a clicking or ‘clanking’ metal sound only when 4 wheel drive is engaged and under load or acceleration around corners is a sign associated with cv joints. Well i took it into the monro garage and they said it was the cv joints/axle's needing to be replaced. Advance auto parts carries cv boot replacement kits that allow you to replace damaged boots without removing the axle from the car.

Most times it is the outer, (closest to the wheel) since that is the one that gets most of the action. So for the past two weeks while driving to work, which is a very steep grade road with a lot of switchbacks, my subaru forester starting making a clicking sound when turning left. There are two cv joints per axle.

When these joints go bad they will make a clicking noise and more so when turning right or left, or when accelerating. Also, cv joints are inspected for signs of cracks, rips, tears, and punctures, which causes grease to leak out and dirt in. The clicks may become louder or more pronounced during sharper and faster turns, and will be heard on.

Naturally thought it was the wheel bearing so i changed it. Clicking sounds are a clear sign of a worn cv joint. The damaged cv joint needs replacing.

Also, he said he checked the car thoroughly so don’t know what it could be, he said if it was the axle it would be more of a clicking noise. Once the joint makes noise, you cannot add grease to the damaged joint and make the noise go away. My mechanic said the axle was brand new.

I've noticed a very soft clicking sound coming from the right front axle while turning (steering at max) to the right in a slope. The mechanic looked under the car and informed me that none of the boots are damaged and the axels are secure. It is also indicated by a cloud clicking when turning.

Either through time or damage, the axle. Not only does this take the project time down from three to four hours to less than 30 minutes, but it also means no. The outer joint is the one that faces the drive wheel(s).

The noise a damaged outer cv joint makes is a clicking noise with a metallic tone: It only occurs when making left turns under moderate acceleration and varies with speed. If you fail to do so, at least replace the cv joint immediately once you hear a clicking noise while turning the car.

My guess would be the cv axle. This is also one of the most noticeable and the most common sign. When i put it all back together i hear a clicking noise from the rear only when i'm turning.

Typically this indicates an issue with the outer cv joint, and the sound is the loudest on the joint that’s opposite of the turning direction. This can cause a vibration in the front suspension that transfers to the vehicle. Usually they make a clicking sound when turning left or right but, if the socket is really dry and consequently, worn, then it could make a noise.

I immediately thought it was my cv joints and took it in today. This problem can be due to lack for grease or the cv joint is just worn out and needs replacement. The turning sound and popping immediately was gone after taking the car out of the garage and heading home.

There are two ways to fix this problem. By connecting two fixed rotating shafts with a set of cv joints, the axle maintains steering stability while handling the ups and downs from the vehicle's suspension. Do regular maintenance check around your car to spot a damaged cv joint boot.

This sound is most noticeable when you make sharp or fast turns while driving around corners. If the clicking is heard during acceeration on a straight line it is usually the inboard joint. They can also bind up on acceleration and when turning tightly.

And to my knowledge the only thing that could cause the clicking on a hard turn under acceleration is a defective outer cv joint. When cv joints get worn out, the joints become very loose and make clicking sounds when turning. Replace the whole axle asap or it might give out and cause the rear diff to work overtime.

Ok so i tore 3 cv boots on my gorilla axles last weekend. I have a mysterious clicking noise coming from the driver side when turning left. Vibrations caused by axle problems are typically felt throughout the entire car, but they are strongest at the steering wheel.

If the grease leaks out, water and debris can contaminate the joint, accelerating wear and creating excessive clearance. Usually a torn boot is an indicator of no grease in the cv joint itself and what you're hearing is the knuckles in the cv clicking. You’ll hear the unusual clicking sound from the side of the vehicle with the faulty cv shaft.

I thought it was the cv axle, but the previous owner told me he had it. Replace the axle on the side with the popping. When cv axles become excessively worn, the joints will become loose and click when turning.

It is possible that he hammered the hub over the axle damaging the balls on the outboard joint. The most common symptom of a bad cv axle is a clicking noise when turning. It drives great, except for a clicking/binding that occurs while making left turns under moderate throttle that i suspect is a bad cv joint.

They are called the inner cv joint and outer cv joint. I have a mysterious clicking noise coming from the driver side when turning left. Cv joints are mounted on each end of a front axle, they transfer power to the wheels from the transmission.
